For nearly 20 years Ray wrote regular opinion columns for The Guelph Mercury and then The Wellington Advertiser. His columns and other articles or features have also appeared in publications such as: Partners Magazine, The Mercury's Seniors' Magazine, The Woodstock Sentinel Review, CoverSTORY, Mature Lifestyles, Christian Current, Christian Week, Faith Today, Cable Communications Magazine, Rogers Retiree, and Good Times.
